I never thought soccer would change my life. But here I am -- team captain, honor roll student, and someone who believes in myself.
When FolaFutbol came to my school in 6th grade, I was shy and struggled with confidence. I had never played organized sports before. But Coach Martinez saw something in me and encouraged me to try.
Finding My Voice
Soccer taught me to speak up. On the field, you have to communicate -- call for passes, direct teammates, encourage each other. At first, I could barely raise my voice. But slowly, with support from my coaches and teammates, I found my confidence.
"Soccer didn't just teach me to play a sport. It taught me to believe in myself, work with others, and never give up."

Beyond the Field
The skills I learned in soccer transferred to my schoolwork. I started speaking up in class, joining group projects, and taking on leadership roles. My grades improved. My relationships improved. Everything changed.
Now as team captain, I try to do for younger players what my coaches did for me -- see their potential and help them believe in themselves. Soccer gave me a second family and a path forward.
My Advice to New Players
- Give it time -- growth happens gradually
- Listen to your coaches -- they see your potential
- Support your teammates -- we grow together
- Believe in yourself -- you're stronger than you think
